Fire damages 6th Ave. home

HUNTINGTON – A single-family home which houses the Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington was damaged by fire Saturday evening.

The fire was reported at 7:40 p.m. It started in the second floor and spread to the third floor of the building in the 600 block of 6th Avenue, according to Huntington Deputy Fire Chief Scott Earls.  Click here

The Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington will host their 1st Annual Community Days on Saturday, September 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 611 6th Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia to celebrate the diversity within our community, increase visibility of local nonprofit organizations, and showcase the talents and wares of many community members. 

The event is free and open to the public.  Demonstrations, performances, and activities include Blacksmithing, Fire-Spinning, Spray-Painting, Face Painting, Hooping, Yoga, World Dance, Drumming, and Crafts.  There will also be Tarot Card Readings; various local vendors offering homemade candies, crafts, soaps, scents; and yard sale items.  

Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington president Linda Greer says of the event:Community Days is an event where we celebrate the diverse talents of our local artisans.  It’s a chance to clean the closet and contribute to a good cause.  You can come for the entertainment and check us out without having to go to service or meeting.  Come and see why we affectionately call ourselves “tribe”.

HUNTINGTON — The Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington will host its inaugural Community Days celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at 611 6th Ave. in Huntington.

The event is designed to celebrate the diversity within the community, increase the visibility of local nonprofits, and showcase the talents and wares of many community members.

Demonstrations, performances and activities will include blacksmithing, fire-spinning, spray-painting, face-painting, hooping, yoga, world dance, drumming and crafts. Local vendors will offer homemade candles, crafts, soaps, scents and yard sale items.

“Community Days is an event where we celebrate the diverse talents of our local artisans,” Unitarian Fellowship of Huntington President Linda Greer said in a news release. “It’s a chance to clean the closet and contribute to a good cause.”
